To coincide with World Diabetes Day 2016, Al Sharq Hospital organized the Free Medical checkups and awareness lectures at 5 locations across Fujairah. The theme of this year’s campaign ,’Eyes on Diabetes’, aims to promote the importance of screening to ensure early diagnosis of type 2 diabetes and treatment to reduce the risk of serious complications. Dr Maan Ali, Head of ophthalmology department , said : “ Al Sharq Hospital has created a Diabetes Care Campaign to encourage residents in the Emirates to take responsibility for their health by arranging regular check-ups and tests”.

Dr. Hamdi Takriti, Specialist retinal surgery , said : “ Diabetes now has no age bar. It can affect anyone. Universal awareness regarding diabetes is essential. It causes organ failure, blindness and other deceases. More the awareness is created, the better it would be to control diabetes’.
